The challenge was to work with the existing red carpet in this formal house with large rooms and lots of architectural elements. I decided that the dining room would benefit from a little whimsy.

On a pale peach base colour I first painted the stylized pomegranate trees. Then I sponged on glazes of raw umber and gold mica powder. The mica powder is very subtle and adds a warm glow that is indescribable.

I painted a golden trellis pattern in the dining room's cove molding to add an extra element of interest.

I painted the walls in the hall to resemble blocks of French limestone.

The lounge beyond has walls sponged a rick caramel.

The end result is a series of rooms that are deliciously harmonious.
