This good looking chest of drawers was a flea market find. Under layers of purple paint the once beautiful burled walnut veneer was found to be in a state not salvageable. The veneer may have been beyond repair but the chest still had presence and was well designed and constructed. I opted to give it a new life with a fantasy finish inspired by traditional Japanese designs found on ceramics and lacquer ware. For the top I painted a faux finish in black and gold to resemble Portorro marble from Italy.
